Newport Sudanese Community (NSC) has obtained the following categories of your personal Data:

NSC committee members will capture, and record details relating to any member of the Newport 
community and provide suitable tailored support for all those referred to us from various support 
agencies, Local authority, Member of parliament, police, health professionals or the neighborhood.
This section sets out the categories of personal data that could be shared with us and the type of 
individuals and organisations that may provide us with information.
Categories of personal data obtained by the NSC committee members are:

•   Address
•   Date of Birth

•   General health conditions

•    Various reference Numbers, including (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) 
Reference Number, NASS Ref, HO Ref, NI number)

Purpose and legal basis for using your information
Here, we will explain the reason why we have collected your personal data and the reasons for 
processing.

Our legal basis for processing your information:
We have your explicit consent to process your personal data

The right to withdraw consent
If we are relying on your consent to process your data, you have the right to withdraw your consent

You must provide us with the information we need to deliver the service, if there is either:
a) A contractual obligation to do so, or

Special Category Data

Sometimes we process special category data which is afforded more protection under the Data 
Protection Act. This is because special category data is deemed to be more sensitive. If we are 
processing your special category data then we need to establish a further lawful basis for 
processing, and we have highlighted this below:


There is substantial public interest

Special category data is data about an individual’s race, ethnic origin, politics, religion, trade 
union membership, genetics, biometrics, health, sex life or sexual orientation. It is likely that 
we will process data that relates to your health and medical history and there is substantial 
public interest in doing so, the data is collected in order to ensure appropriate support offered. 
The processing of this data will be proportionate to the aim pursed and respect the essence of the 
right to data protection. We will provide for suitable and specific measures to safeguard your 
fundamental rights and interests.

Complaints Procedure
If you are unhappy with the way Newport Sudanese Community is using your data, you have the right

If you are not content with the subsequent outcome of your complaint, you may apply directly to the 
Information Commissioner for a decision. Generally, the ICO cannot make a decision unless you have

How long will we retain your information?
We will retain your information until you withdraw your membership from the Newport Sudanese
